WEDDINGS.

BURDIS—WEBB. The wedding was celebrated at St. Stephen's Church, Opotiki, recently, of Miss Vera Ashwood Webb, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Webb, to Mr. John Hugh Malcolm Burdis, only son of Mr. John Hogg Burdis, and the late Mrs. Burdis, of Newcastle on Tvne, England. The Rev. N. F. Benham officiated and Miss Sydenham played the wedding music. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a frock of white georgette, embroidered in silver and white, with a coatee and long trail of orange blossom falling from the shoulder. Her hat of cream felt and crinoline was ornamented with a diamante dagger and she carried a bouquet of lily of the valley, roses and asparagus fern. The bride's two sisters were in attendance. Mrs. C. Orchard, of IVhakatane, wore a delphinium blue lace frock, ankle-length, with crinoline hat to match, arid carried a bouquet of pale pink roses and asparagus. Mrs. E. Forster, of Wairnana, was in shell-pink lace, with crinoline hat to tone, and carried a bouquet of delphiniums, love in the mist and asparagus. The bridegroom was attended by Mr. H. J. S. Johnson, of Whakatane, as best man, and Mr. D. Morris, of Opotiki, as groomsman. DOWDEN—BRIDGEN S. The ■ wedding was celebrated at St. John's Church, Ponsonby, of Miss Edna May Bridgens, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Bridgens, of Heme Bay, to Mr. Cyril Elsmere Dowden, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Dowden, of Ponsonby. The Rev. George Frost officiated and Mr. Erington played the wedding music. Tho bride, who was given away by her father, wore an ankle-lengthy gown of ivory satin. The veil, of embroidered tulle, which formed the train, was held in place by a Juliet cap of pearls and diamante and she carried a sheaf of arum lilies. Three bridesmaids, Miss D. Edwards, Miss N. Dowden and Miss D. Payne, were in attendance. They were dressed alike in period frocks of rose georgette, with hats to match, and each carried a bouquet of pink rosebuds, sweet peas and maidenhair ferns. Gwen and Douglas Bai were train bearers. The former, who carried a basket cf pink sweet peas, wore a period frock of rose silk tullo and bonnet to match, and the little boy wore a white satin shirt and long black velvet trousers. The bridegroom was attended by Mr. L. Dowden, Mr. N. Dowden and Mr. G. Bridgens. DENNIS—TRITTON. On October 8 the marriage took place at, Holy Trinity, Brompton, of Mr. Patrick Dyke Dennis, son of Mr. and Mrs. 11. Dyke Dennis, of New Hall, Ruabon, North Wales, and Mrs. Alys Tritton, widow of Mr. R. L. Tritton, and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Duncan, of Wellington. The Rev. 11. S. Sard performed the ceremony, writes our London correspondent'. The. bride was given away by her uncle, Lieutenant-Colonel tho Hon. Nigel C. Gathorne-Ilardy, D.S.O. She wore a coat and skirt of pale beigo crepe do chine with a jumper to match, and a largo collar of fox to tone with her small chocolate-brown velvet hat. There were no bridesmaids. Tho best man was Mr. Derek Fisher. Mr. Dennis is a Wantage trainer and a well-known amatour jockey.

MONGUB-BLAKE.' Tlio wedding was celebrated in St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Otahuhu, on Monday afternoon of Miss Ethel Blake, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Blake, of Flat Bush Road, Papatoetoc, to Mr. J. Moncur, son of Mrs. Moncurandthe lato Mr. Moncur, also of Flat, Bush. The Rev. A. M. Elliffe performed the ceremony, and Mrs. W. Ormiston played the wedding music. The bride, who entered tho church with her father, wore an ankle-length, long-sleoved frock of cream georgette. The skirt was flared and featured the uneven hemline. Her veil was embroidered with true lover's knots arid fell in soft folds to the ground. A bouquet of cream roses, carnations and fern was carried. Tho bridesmaid, Miss I. M. Blake, sister of the bride, wore a gown of apricot floral ninon, which fell to (lie ankles in graceful folds. A picture hat to match was worn. Iler bouquet, was of roses and maidenhair fern. The bridegroom was attended by Mr. R. Alexander as best man. A reception was held later in the Kingsford Hall, Otahuhu. Mrs. Blake received tho guests wearing a navy silk frock and hat to tone. Her bouquet was of red roses and fern. The bridegroom's mother wore biscuit-shaded crepc do chine, relieved with shades of rose and a black Bangkok hat.
