HIIGHWAYS IN BOROUGH. CHARGES FOR WATER SUPPLY. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. 3 MORKINSVILLE, Friday. Advice that the District Highway Council would visit Morrinsville on November 27 and would bo pleased to discuss mam highways matters with the Morrinsville Borough Council was received at a meeting of the latter body last evening. A letter was received from Mr. J. P. Kelly offering to cut down the trees on the Morrinsville Domain Eoad and repair the fences in return for the timber. The offer was not accepted, as the council did not want the trees removed. The Works Committee recommended that the engineer be authorised to make concrete blocks for the fire plugs on footpaths as funds permitted. The report of the Finance Committee on the question of reduced water charges stated that the committee was unable to recommend any change in the present system. The request made by Mr. Ramsay and a deputation at a former meeting, that tho minimum charge of £lO a year be reduced, was not favourably considered.
Mr. Chapman called attention to the danger to the public caused by bicyclists not observing the by-lavrs as to speed and lights. He moved that, the engineer be inst meted to prosecute all bicyclists not conforming to the by-laws. The motion was carried.
