OTAHUHU BOROUGH.

INSPECTION OF PROPERTIES. DECISION OF THE COUNCIL. The Otahuhu Borough Council decided on Thursday evening that the sanitary inspector should make an inspection of tlio borough and rpport on all properties not complying with the by-laws. This step was decided upon following consideration of a report by the town clerk on the former council's action to apply for demolition orders and to serve closing orders in respect of properties occupied by Asiatics, which were not suitable habitations. An offer from the botanist at the Auckland Museum to inspect and classify the noxious weeds in the district was accepted. Advice was received from the ValuerGeneral that the council's application for a revaluation could not be granted until the lists for next year were disposed of. To a request from the White New Zealand League that the council support a protest against the establishment of a Chinese market in Auckland, it was decided to reply that as this question was practically settled no action was proposed by the council. The Parks Committee reported that the wattle trees blown down in Seaside Park by the recent gale had been replaced with weeping willows, and that a tender of £49 had been accepted for the erection of a glasshouse.
