LOWER QUEEN STREET TRAFFIC.

Sir,—May I draw attention to a congestion that has beeu existing for some time. I refer to the residents 01" the North Shore boroughs using tho transharbour ferry services and Uic thoroughfares of our city between tho hours of 8 and 9 a.m. and 4.30 and 6 p.m. Mv objection is to the haphazard way the residents flock over the lower portion of Queen Street at, (he hours mentioned. They forget that there are at least a few town people using the sarno thoroughfare at tho same time. This annoyance could be avoided if the. shoreitcs would hasten a little and observe the rules of tho road, just as the city peoplo have been instructed by an efficient method in the past. I would suggest that the city fathers could place on loan to the Devonport Borough Council and other councils concerned afc least two traffic inspectors, placing them at the Devonporfc Wharf to instruct these people the right way to use tho city footpath", instead of taking charge of the whole of the area mentioned. The grounds of my complaint arc apparent to anyone who cares to visit Queen Street at these times. If my suggestion could bo carried into effect, much valuable time w o "'d bo saved to commercial traffic and annoyance saved to people who respect their fellow beings while in the street. Rule of TitE Road.
