•Sir.—ln vinw of the ['osi.il Department's announcement of earlier closing of southern mails, it is interesting to find that in Wellington, with a much grcatei distance between the post office and Thorndon Station, the times are: For train leaving at 2 p.m., mail closes 12.30 p.m.. late fee at post ollicc, 1 p.m.; for trair leaving at 7.15 p.m. mail closes 5 p.m., late fee at post office, 6 p.m. Why the differentiating against Auckland '!
