OTAHUHU INTERESTS.

PARKING of STOCK VEHICLES, NEW BY-LAW PROPOSED. The Otahuhu Borough Council last evening decided, after receiving a report from the sanitary inspector, to draw up a by-law to prohibit the parking of vehicles containing livestock in the town business area. The draft of a petition proposed to be signed by ratepayers residing adjacent to a chemical works requesting the owners to abate the nuisance alleged to be caused by fumes, was received with a request that the council give its assistance. Tt. was decided to reply that if the petition was fully supported by the ratepayers concerned the council would givo it 3 moral and financial support. Advice was received from the Minister of Public Works that a subsidy of £3OO for relief work on Sturgess Park had been sanctioned. The Works Committee reported that work had been commenced this week, seven men had been started, and this number would be augmented as the scheme developed. A deputation from the Onehunga Chamber of Commerce requested the council's support to the establishment of an industrial area 011 the Manukau. It was decided to support the proposal.
