ANNUAL MEETING HELD. REVIEW OF YEAR'S WORK. NEW OFFICERS ELECTED. A year of marked activily has been experienced by tho Auckland auxiliary of the British and Foreign Bible Society, which held it 3 S4th annual meeting in tlm Beresford Street Congregational Church last evening. Archdeacon G. MacMnrray presided in the absence of the president, Archbishop A. W. Averill. The secretary, Miss Agnes Young, reported that her time had mainly been occupied in the organisation of branches. In order to further interest and increase the number of helpers and subscribers much deputational work had been done and numerous congregations, Sunday schools and meetings had been addressed. The auxiliary's work now extended as far north as Kaikohe. During the year new branches had been formed at Katikat.i, Wharepoa, JKerepeebi, Milford, Belmont Bayswater, Tamalii, Clevedon, Waiuku, Kaikohe, and Maungaturoto. The financial position was satisfactory, the total receipts amounting to £2850 17s ltd, including £IOO from tho executors in the estate of the late Mr. J. A. Morrison, of Waipu. If. was gratifying to note that contributions from many branches showed an increase. The credit, balance carried forward amounted to nearly £64. What has become an established annual event, " Bible Sunday," was held on the first, Sunday in Slay in a large number of churches, and tho auxiliary desired to express its gratitude to the Council of Christian Congregations for its co-opera-tion. Tho latest report from the parent society in London stated that tho list of Biblo versions published had reached a total of 630. Each of tho twelve months ending on March 31, 1930, had witnessed tho publication of the Biblo in a fresh language. The number of copies of Scripture disseminated had surpassed all previous records and for the first time in the history of tho society the twelve million mark had been reached and exceeded, the " World's Best Book" still being the world's " best seller." The society's income from oil sources was tho largest ever received. An instructive address on " The Power of the Bible" war, delivered by the Bight Bev. G. Budd, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church, and the Bev. David Calder, Dominion secretary of the society, presented a short review of the work throughout, New Zealand.
