FUSE WIRES ALTERED.

SWITCH BOARD IN THEATRE. OPERATOR BEFORE COURT. [BV TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] TE AROHA. Thursday. An employee and operator at the.Majes- | tic Theatre, To Aroha, Eric Darby, was charged boforo Mr. F. W. PJatts, S.M., in tho Court to-day with making alterations to the electric wires in tlio theatre. Evidences was given bv Mr. P. H. Gwynn, registrar of tlio Electrical Wiremen's Board, Wellington, to the effect that tl}o insertion of a too heavy fuse wire was dangerous, and was often the causo of fires. Two of tlio fuse wires on the theatre Switch board wore five times too strong. The fuses were on the switch board purely as a safety dovico. An inspector had called at the theatro and found defendant with the fuses out of the switch board. Darby, in evidence, admitted putting wiro in one fuse, but denied placing the containers back in tlio switch board. Hie magistrate said there was no doubt that defendant had committed a breach of tho regulations. He would be convicted and the question of a fine would be held over until several other cases of tho same nature had been heard.
