EFFECT IN BRITAIN. REDUCED EXPORTS NOTED. (Received November 12, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON. Nov. 11. The Trime Minister, Mr. Mac Donald, replying in the House of Commons to a question by Mr. K. I'. Wise, Labour member for Leicester East, said he could not see how lie could usefully estimate the effect upon British employment of Australia's economic measures. Mr. W r ise directed attention to the reduction in the exports to Australia by one-half, and asked was not that a matter of great importance? Mr. Mac Donald said the matter of great importance which had been dinned into his ears for the last four wqeks was that the Dominions»had equal status with Britain. The President of the Board of liade, Mr. W r . Graham, said British merchandise exported to Australia in the quarter ended September 50 was valued at £7,605,000, or £400.000 less than the imports from Australia. The figures for the corresponding quarter of last year were £15,145,000, or £4,826.000 more than the imports.
