FATALITY AT CROSSING.

RECENT HOKITIKA CASE.

At the inquest into tho death of Mary Oates, who was fatally injured in a level crossing accident on October 30, the coroner returned a verdict of death from shock and concussion received in a collision between a motor-car and a train. The car was driven by Paul Ronton.

When a train from Ross was entering the Hokitika station it struck a motor-car driven by Renton at tho Weld Street crossing. Four ladies were passengers in tho car. Mrs. and Miss Gates were seriously injured and wero removed to hospital, where Mrs. Gates died a fow hours later.
