IRREGULAR AUCTIONS.
ACCUSED WITHOUT LICENCE. I COURT IMPOSES FINE. [BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, Friday. A plea of guilty was mado in the Magistrate's Court to-day by David Livjngstone, who was stated to have conducted sales of, a cheapjack nature, to a charge of conducting auction sales in an irregular manner. He was fined £2 10s arid costs, £6 ss. Defendant's business in Wellington, it vras stated, was conducted by defendant himself, who was not the holder of a licence', but was paying holders of licences at the rate of 5 per cent. The police stated further that until Ihe •nd of the last licensing year defendant liad been using the licence of an Australian criminal, who had somehow obtained a New Zealand licence.
