LARGE WHALE CHASED.
ADVENTUROUS FISHERMEN. SYDNEY HARBOUR INCIDENT. A large humpback whalo, tho third within three months, found its way into Sydney Harbour recently, and was the object of a lively chase by a number of adventurous fishermen in launches for some time. It. was calculated to bo 35ft. in length. The monster was first seen in Double Bay. Within a short time a number of launches had set out in pursuit, but, only succeeded in frightening it, and, duririß its short slay, it was rarely seon. Its periodic and "momentary appearances on tho surface soon showed that it was seeking its way to tho open soa, but tho chaso was kept up until it had reached North Head. ■At 'l'iiis stage tho whale, suddenly alarmed, sprang completely out of the water amid a welter of foam, and fell Ifack with a crash like am explosion, raising a shower of spiav 20ft. into tho airi He was last seen making in • northerly direction along the coast.
