SHEFFIELD SHIELD.
BRADMAN MAKES 61 RUNS. INTER-STATE MATCH 1 BEGUN. (Received November 7. 11.15 p.m.) SYDNEY, Nov. 7. A Sheffield Shield cricket match between New South "Wales and South Australia was begun to-day .it Sydney. The local eleven batted first and made 228 runs (Bradmnn, 61; Fairfax, 62; Hooker, 54). Devcrson took four wickets for 60, Carlton four for 23, and Tobin two for 75. South Australia in their first venture had made 74 for fivo wickets (Nitschke not out 29) when stumps were drawn. When Bradman appeared to bat the South Australians cheered him. Kippax, captain of tho Now South Wales team, made 19 runs.
