GERMAN HORSES "DUMPED."
HUNDREDS IN ENGLAND. An altogether new kind of " dumping," to tho financial detriment of British farming. is taking place in Yorkshire. Hundreds of German-bred heavy horses have been, and st ill aro being, landed in Hull. They come from farms in Germany where horse-power has been superseded by trac-tor-power. The introduction of tho horses has called forth many complaints from East Yorkshire farmers, who for about 150 years have been raising several types of plough-horses for heavy and light soils arid for street work. These German horse,s aro being sold at prices well under the values of Englishbred horses. A few are going into agricultural work, but tho majority arc being bought for street work in the iarge towns and cities of Yorkshire. They are thus robbing the English farmer-producei of his best market The German farmer is naturally dr lighted to find a profitable market for his casts-off, If it were barred against him, tho horses would go to Belgium or Frame
