Mrs. E. J. Righton, of York Bay, Wellington, is visiting Auckland. Miss V. Bartrom is leaving to-day by the Rangitata en route for Trinidad. Mrs. E. L. Knight, of Christchurch, has returned from ,1 vi?it to Auckland. Mrs. Bernard Wood has returned to Heretaunga after a visit to Auckland arid Rotorua. Mrs. G. K. Mathieson, who has been visiting Wellington, is returning to Auckland this morning. Mrs. J. Anderson, Miss E. Mann and Mrs. J. Clark have returned to Rotorua from a visit to Auckland. Mrs. F. E. Howard, who has been thu guest of Mrs. Summerville, of Auckland, has returned to Matarnata. Miss Ethel Upton, who has been the guest of Mrs. Northcroft, of Crescent Road, has returned to Hamilton. Mr. and Mrs. Alan Strang, of Here taunga, are returning on Tuesday by the Mataroa, after a visit to England. Mrs. Seddon-Woods is arriving in Wellington on Tuesday from England on a visit to her mother, Mrs. R. J. Scddon. Mrs. Arthur Russell and Miss Beatrice Russell, of Palmerston North, are visiting Auckland and aro staying at the Grand Hotel. Mrs. Campbell, Mrs. Bell and Mrs. Reid, who have been staying with their mother, Mrs. Smales, of Claudelnnds, for their sister's wedding, have returned to Auckland. A very ploasant afternoon was spent at the Y.W.C.A. Mothers' Club this week, when Mrs. Moller, of the Higher Thought Temple, gave an address. Her subject was "The Power that Women Have." A vote of sympathy was passed with the relatives of the late Mrs. N. E. Femw, the members standing in silenco.

The monthly meeting of tho Eemuera W.C.T.U. was held on Thursday afternoon in tho Methodist Hall, when Mrs. Kasper presided. Interesting reports of . the W.C.T.U. district convention and of the alliance convention were given by Mrs. Hunter and Mrs. Robinson, who received hearty thanks for their work. Helpful discussion followed on ways of increasing interest in temperauco work generally. The secretary read a report of tho Loyal Temperance League work going on among young people. The Social Club of the Auckland Elec-tric-poWier Board celebrated G ; u.v Fawkes night with a dance in tho social hall. Quay Street. There was a very large attendance, and the dancing continued till a late hour to musio supplied by Neville Walker's Syncopaters. Extras were played by Miss S. Pegler and Miss _Z. Pegler. A variety of novelty dances included Monte Carlo waltzes and'a disnlav of "sparkler" flares. The hall was effectively decorated for the occasion, coloured streamers and masses of spring greenery being arranged to advantage.
