BATHS AT TAURANGA.
QUEEN CARNIVAL FUND. BOROUGH COUNCIL'S PLANS. [BX TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] TAURANGA, Friday. The balance-sheet of the queen carnival held in aid of the Municipal Baths fund was presented at a meeting of the committee last evening and showed a credit balance of £416. '
The borough engineer, Mr. C. W. Boak, submitted a plan of the proposed bath enclosure off {he eastern end of First Avenue. The enclosure would be 126 ft. in length and 99ft. in width. It was unanimously agreed that the trustees of the carnival fund be authorised to hand over to the Borough Council the whole of the proceeds of the carnival. The Mayor, Mr. B. C. Robbins, said the council would commence work on the enclosure as soon as possible. The council had secured a lease of the old site from the Harbour Board, and steps were now in progress with a view to obtaining the sanction of the Marine Department. It was intended to carry out the work with tho council's own staff.
