TIIEW—LAWFORD. St. Mark's Church, Remuera, with its decorations of early summer (lowers in tones of golden yellow and deep orange to match the colouring of the bridal group, formed a picturesque and charming netting for a naval wedding of widespread interest, which was celebrated there yostorday afternoon. The bride was Miss Jean Kathleen Florence Lawford, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Lawford, of Edenholrrie, Remuera, and tlio bridegroom, Lieutenant Norman Vivian Thew, son of Madame Desbordes, of Biarritz Fiance, and the late Major N. The>v, of Northumberland, England. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. G. Cruickshank, assisted by Padro G. T. Robson, and Mr. Pascoo played the wedding music. The bride, who was giveii away by her brother, Mr. John Curling Lawford, woro a simple but very graceful frock of gold embossed triple georgette fitting closely to the figure and ending in a slight double-pointed train ornamented with two golden tassels on each point. Golden tassels also fell from the deep picture cuffs finishing the long, close-fitting sleeves and the veil.of Brussels luce, which fell from a flat fan effect on the crown of the head, was held with a strand and ear clusters of orange blossoms. She carried a largo sheaf of white tea roses. The tlirco bridesmaids who attended her were Miss Jocelyn Riddiford. (Lower Hutt, Wellington), Miss "Audrey Horton and Miss Marjorie Vaile. Picturesque frocks of organdie, similarly fashioned, shading from pale lemon to a deep melon tint, were worn by all three. The straight falling skirts alternated tho shades in graduated tucks, and the bodices, which showed tho normal waist-line, were made with berthe collars opening at the back with wide flat bows, and finished at tho waist with a cluster of shaded flowers to tone. Golden meshed Juliet caps latticed with pearls were also worn, and they carried sheafs of golden tea rosos. Little Betsy Reed, the train-bearer, was a miniature edition of tho bridesmaids. Also in attendance were two pages, Michael Russell and Warwick Grey, both wearing long pale yellow satin trousers and shirts with lace ruffles. Tho best man was Lieutenant J. R. Westinacott, and the groomsmen, Surgeon-Commander F. Quinn and Lieutenant J. Warrand. Acting as ushers at tho church wero Messrs. Dennis Lawford, Bruce Elliot, J. Russell, Mervyn Reed, Trevor Davis and Macmillan Bull. As the bridal party left the church tho brother officers of the bridegroom formed an archway with tneir swords, beneath which the bride and bridegroom passed to their motor-oar.

After tlic ceremony a reception was lield ai Edenholme, Mrs. Lawford receiving the guests in a frock of black georgette over Nile green satin marocain, the bodice, from the shoulders to the hips, inset with ivory laco embossed with silver and ending in narrow Vandykes. A green Bangkok hat banded with ospreys was also worn, and she carried a bouquet of pink carnations. The reception rooms were bright and fragrant with crystal vases and bowls of stock in shades of mauve, pink and dark red, and with primulas, and in the big marquee, which had been erected on the lawn, the flowers were in shades to tone with the bridesmaids' frocks, alternating with light foliage and maidenhair fern.
