BANKRUPT MERCHANT.
DEALINGS IN PRODUCE. OPERATIONS IN CANTERBURY. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] CHRISTCHURCII, Tuesday. A meeting of creditors in the estate of Harold Hcney, of Rangiora, grain merchant., was hold to-day, before the official assignee, Mr. J. 11. Robertson. About 40 creditors wero present. Bankrupt's schedule showed total liabilities of £7293 and a nominal deficiency of £5734. A lengthy statement was read, in which bankrupt attributed his failure to lack of capital, heavy losses incurred in forward buying, to the bad season in all lines of produce, and to a number of minor misfortunes. On the motion of a creditor it was decided that tho procoodings bo taken in committee. F,vcnt ually tho meeting resolved that the estate be left, in the hands of tho official assignee, with full powers to act.
