THEFT OF HORSE.
MAN GRANTED PROBATION. Probation was granted by Mr. Justice TTerdman in the Supreme Court yesterday to Alfred George Kendall, aged 42, farmer, who had been found guilty of stealing a b.jj' mare, valued at £2O, the properly of the Public Works Department. His Honor said he had come to the conclusion that Kendall was more stupid than criminal. " I hope thai the people who ,have employed you will reinstate you,' said His Honor. " Xow that you have gone through this experience I am satisfied that it will be a lesson to you " ' Kendall was admitted to probation for two years, and required to pay the costs of the prosecution, £ll 13s, within six months.
