AN OUT-OF-DATE PORT. PROFESSOR HORNELL'S OPINION. [BY TELEGRAFH. —I'P.ESS ASSOCIATION.] CHttISTCinURCH. Wednesday. Taking advantage of Professor J. G. Hornell's visit to Canterbury to inspect Lake tho Port Christchurch Leaguo, which favours the scrapping of Lyttelton and development of a port in tho estuary at or near Sumner, engaged Professor Ilornell to report on its scheme. Professor Hornell, in an interview after his tour of inspection to-day, declared that Lyttelton was out-of-date and incapable of adequate expansion to meet growing needs. He declared that there was in tho Sumner estuary every facility for making an up-to-date harbour.
