ABSENCE FROM INQUEST.

WITNESS AWAY AT TEA. MEMORY LOST AFTER MISHAP. [BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, Wednesday. Tho inquest concerning the death of Francis Edmund Blake, who was killed when his bicycle was struck by a motorcycle ridden by Lawson John August, was resumed to-day. August did not appear to give evidence yesterday. It was stated by counsel that ho was suffering loss of memory as the result of injuries he received in the accident. To-day August admitted that he was having afternoon tea while yesterday's hearing was proceeding. In giving evidence to-day, August said he could not remember starting out on his bicycle, nor could he recall anything concerning the accident.

The coroner returned a formal verdict in accordance with the medical evidence. He refrained from comment in view of any civil proceedings which might bo taken.
