GOODS FOR ROTORUA, charged at the above rates, will, with certain exceptions, be DELIVERED FREE within the business area by any local licensed carrier (not in competition with the Railway Department) nominated by the consignee. Business firms who take delivery of goods from Rotorua with their own lorries will be allowed an amount equal to that which would be paid to a carrier if the goods were delivered by the Department. Firms whose premises are outside the business area will be similarly treated. A condition is provided for the benefit of clients who send and receive ALL their goods BY RAIL. In such cases any commodity which is now carried at less than the "D" rate will be charged the cheaper rate. In all other cases the Class "D" rate will be the MINIMUM rate charged.
