TRAINING AT OTAHUHU.

INTERESTING WORK-OUTS. LADY YVONNE IN FORM. LUCY BELL HAS A FALLWith the "Waikato meeting only two day# off, and the Auckland fixture rapidly approaching, Olahuhu trainers were busy on Tuesday morning and sent their charges along seriously. An interesting piece of work was accomplished by Sunshower (T. P. Grimmond), g Jewel Pointer (G. Paton) and Trustworthy (S. M. August), when they went off together to go two miles. Sunshower and Jewel Pointer soon took the lead, with Trustworthy going nicely in behind. They were in this order at the end of a mile. Trustworthy was pulled up after a mile and a-half had been covered and the other two went on, both full of running. Jewel Pointer completed the journey, but Sunshower was asked to go only a mile and three-quarters All three horses are ready for serious business. Sunshower apneared quite at home on the grass track. Great Ballin (J. G. Robertson) and Lady Yvonne (G. Mitchell) were associated over two miles, but the pace was' Very slow over the first mile when Great Ballin appeared to be pulling hard and Lady Yvonne was going easily Over the last six furlonea the pace was increased and there was nothing between the pair at the finish. Lady Yvonne is in fine order and should have possibilities on Saturday. The trotting mares. Windchat (August) and All Special (Gilliard) were worked together over a couple of circuits. Ihey were in close company for the greater nart of the journey. Windchat put in a skip after they had gone about half a mile, but from then on she trotted in good style. All Special, who is carrying a lot of condition, broke badly when a round was covered, but afterwards trotted solidly. Hal Chimes Pleases. Hal Chimes (August). Kingsclere (Lincoln) and Stanmoor were companions in A sound piece of work on the grass. Going the reverste way they hopped off at the mile and three-quarter peg and paced in close order for well over a mile, Kingsclere then being pulled up. Hal Chimes gained the advantage and continued on to complete a very pleasing effort. Man-at-Arms and Betterwin broke away together at the mile peg and, infusing nlepty of dash into their work, they completed the journey in a most satisfactory manner.

Army Boy (G. Paton) had Silver Link (August) as a companion in a strongly-run mile and a-quarter. Both paced with plenty of determination and accomplished a sound task.

Typist, who bears a bright appearance, was given useful work, being sent over several circuits unhoppled.

Royal Bob, Mountain Princess and Sebisca were restricted to jogging exercise on the clay. Mountain Princess has thickened out considerably during her spell. A Derby Candidate.

La Triumph, the Great Northern Derby candidate, pleased by the manner in which she did her work. The filly was not asked to show any pace, but accomplished her work in a promising fashion. W. Lincoln has her looking in nice condition.

Rosalie's Triumph had the Great Audubon —Country Girl mare, who is a member of G. Paton's string, as a companion *n her work on Tuesday morning. They were stepped out on the clay'at an even clip, but were not asked to put _up any time. Dexterity (J. G. Robertson) showed a fairly even gait when worked over several rounds in company with the full sister. to Our Pirate. Dexterity doea np.t.jieed-to improve much to make him a. possibility in the novice trotters' races. Gold Sovereign (August) was given a useful work-out on the grass. He was accompanied by Rockburn. who was driven by G. Paton. Both horses executed their task satisfactorily. On Wednesday morning M. S. Groat was early astir with members of his team. Lucy Bell, accompanied by a galloping pacemaker, was giving one of her usual good displays when she fell. It is to be hoped that the fall will not interfere with the mare'» engagements at the Waikato meeting as she. had improved, .considerably lately. EPSOM TRACK WORK. CLAUDELANDS CANDIDATES. DAN DIRECT IN GOOD ORDERThere waa not a great deal of fast work at Alexandra Park yesterday, most of the trainers allowing their charges to take mattevs quietly after the solid tasks performed on Tuesday morning. The track was again on the hard side, making it difficult for those candidatea suffering from leg troubles. Dan. Direct was not asked to step at his beat while covering several circuits, but he rattled off a couple of halves at a bit under a 2.20 gait. H* looks in good order for his engagement at Claudelands on Saturday. Great Fame paced freely over a mile and a-half, biift was not on a time-making mission. He is still growing and his trainer. A. Patten, is giving him ample time to develop his powers. Great Fame will have his initial race on Saturday. Te Ngutu trotted a mile at a fairly even gait, makintr only one mistake. Sho is improving under G. Webb's tuition and will fulfil her Waikato engagement. Mokopuna did not impress in his trottin* exhibition over several circuits and it will be some time before lie is ready to race. It is unlikely that ho will take his place in the Introductory Handicap field on SaturdMountain D«D (A. Mitchell) and Great Vanity (G. Webb) set out on a 10-furlongs essay, reaching the half-mile diso in 1.12. Great Vanity was doing his work nicely as the mile was passed in 2.20, but from there on Mountain Dell's driver was hard put to it to keep her back to the novice. She passed the 10-furlongs post ip 2.53 under a good pull, being fully three seconds ahead of her associate. Lady Ena made no mistakes in trotting a couple of miles After warming up to her work with a circuit traversed. Lady Ena ran home the last mile in 2.32, finishing full of running.

Glandore, unhoppled* bowled along freely over several circuits, but was not asked to go against the clock at any part of the essay. Glandore has never been in better trim for racing. . . Winn Huon (C. G-. Lee) and the Flonzel novice (R. Low) worked souhdly over 152 furlongs. Winn Huon showed good improvement in his work, making only one blunder on the journey. He ran one half at a 2.30 gait. The Florizel maiden also went pleasingly and is on the improve. Lee has been very patient with Winn Huon, and on yesterday's effort it looks as if his patience will eventually be rewarded. Nathaniel was given several rounds or solid work and while he did not appear to relish the hard footing ho etood up to the Wallace, after going comfortably over a couple of circuits, stepped nt a crisis pace over an extra round. Margaret Wallace is in fine heart for future engagements Tom Pepper showed that when allowed to trot along on his own he can keep an even gait. G. Phipps is getting him inio shapo and later on ho ma.y bo rouarded lor his labours
