TO-DAY'S WEATHER. HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST. Tho following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied by Mr. JI. M. Vincent last evening:— Tho westerly depression is still located over the .southern Tasinun Sea and the South Island. A northerly extension of the disturbance is likely to cause a movement northward of the rain area, which is affecting western districts. Expect fair to cloudy weal her, with a scattered rainfall, gradually becoming more general. Northerly to north-easterly winds, moderate to strong, prevailing, and freshening. Seas becoming rough southward of East Cape. Local outlook: Fair and warmer, with increasing cloudiness, and rain following after about 18 hours. The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows:—A slight anticyclone lias been crossing New Zealand to-day. A depression over the Tasnian Sea appears to bo developing cyclonic force. Indications are for variablo winds at first, but soon becoming northerly and freshening. Seas rather rough about Cook Strait, elsewhere moderate. Moderate to fresh northerly winds in the eastern Tasnian Sea, with moderate but rising seas. Tho weather will bo unsettlod and cloudy with mist or fog in places, with rain developing generally, with somo heavy falls in the central provinces. RAINFALL RECORD.
