WOMEN'S INSTITUTES.

TURUA. A meeting of tho Turua Women's Institute was hold at the residence of Mrs. S. Bagnall, at which Mrs. Trevlyn Miller presided. A report of the annual council meeting, held recently in Auckland, in connection with the Auckland Federation of Women's Institutes, was given by Mrs. A. Walker. Mrs. T. Miller gave a very interesting talk upon tho entertainment of children. The roll call of nursery rhymes was the cause of much merriment. The sales table proved most successful. Tho hostesses wero Mesdaines Dando, Mitchell, Harvey and Miller. ALBANY. Mrs. B. Dickson presided over a meeting of the Albany Women's Institute. Letters from Miss Potter, who is travelling with tho New Zealand farmers' party, were read by tho president, and reports were received from delegates to tho Provincial Federation meeting. Tho gift of j a sugar bowl, presented by Mrs. BronI lund, was acknowledged, and a moment's Bilenco was observed in sympathy with Mrs. Harrison in tho trapic loss of her only son. After all business was dealt with tho afternoon was devoted to impromptu speaking. A number of subjects were discussed, including "Gardening," "Birth Control," "Married Women Teachers" and "Should Women Propose." Tho afternoon was a great success, and it was decided to include impromptu speaking on future programmes. Afternoon tea was served by tho hostesses, Mesdamos H. Dixon, W. Hobson and J. A. Richards. PORT ALBERT. The Port Albert Women's Institute met in the local hall recently when tho report of the recent Federated Institutes' conference held in Auckland recently was presented by Mrs. Smith. A paper upon " Homo Decoration " was read by Mrs. Hutchison, who also Rave some useful household suggestions. A roll call, "Labour Saving Hints," brought forward a number of useful answers. Community singing formed part of the afternoon's entertainment and tea was dispensed by the hostesses, Mestlames G. Shepherd, J. Singleton and C. Shepherd. RANGIRIRI AND TE KAUWHATA. A meeting of tho Rangiriri and Te Kauwhata Women's Institute was held in the To Kauwhata Hall on Tuesday. Tho president, Mrs. H. Fry, welcomed a number of now members. A brief account of the annual meeting of tho A.P.F.W.I. was given by Miss Waterhouse, and a bring-and-buy stall proved very successful. Afternoon tea was served by Mesdames Powell, Palmer, Watt and R. Roddfc.
