At a meeting of tho Hamilton Borough Council this evening tho engineer reported that there appeared to be no decrease in tho demand for work under the borough's unemployment relief scheme. lliere was a slight increase in the number of applicants for employment and it was impossible to forecast a dato for the cessation of work.
It was decided to close tho Maeroa bridge to traffic until tho tipping into tho gully of spoil from tho relief works in Anglcsea Street had ceased. A letter was received from the Morrinsvillo Borough Council asking for support for its request that section 50 of the Valuation of Land Act, 1925, should be repealed and that provision for periodical revaluation bo substituted for it.
