Berlin newspapers state that tho At; torney-General, at the request of the Minister of Defence, General Gioener, has opened an inquiry which may lead to a charge of high treason against Herr Hitler and Dr. Goebel, leaders of the National Socialist Party. Herr Paul Loebe, Speaker of the Reichstiig, in the first authoritative review of the political position says does not fear the establishment of a dictatorship because its advocates realise that they cotald not fundamentally change Germany's foreign policy without creating very grave dangers. A dictatorship could not fight the nation's economic crisis or unemployment by methods other than a Parliamentary Government utilises. " Since we know that the partisans of a dictatorship also realise these facts," says Herr Loebe, " we feel certain they will adopt the necessary attitude of moderation." President Hindonburg has authorised Dr. Bruening to announce that he shares the Chancellor's views and does not fear a coup d'etat. There was no such danger anywhere in Germany. All German securities have slumped heavily, but are tending to recover slightly in London.
