SHUNTING ACCIDENTS
FATALITY IN THE SOUTH; - ' WORKMAN'S LEGS" - CRUSHED. DEATH FOLLOWS IN HOSPITAL* [by telegraph.—press association.] INVBRCARGTLL, Wedneeday. While shunting at the Wyndham yardo, 27 miles from InvercargUl, at noon to. day, Mr. T. W. Miles, a married man aged 24 years, tripped and fell; and an engine passed oyer both his legs. The injured man was brought by train to Invercargill, to undergo an operation aft the hospital,. He died at 11.20 p:m. to-night. > CAUGHT BETWEEN BUTTERS. MARRIED MAN'S INJURIES. While working' in the railway yards at Invercargill to-day, Mr. Leslie Birch, a married man, was caught between the buffers of two trucks and received injuries necessitating liis removal to the hoj. pital. He suffered bruises about his thighs, but the full extent of his injuries was nob known this evening.
