WAIKATO COAL CONTRACTS.
.Sir, —Congratulations to Mr. Fletcher, M.P. Keep on with the good work. We had the member for the district at Renown on Monday last, but the best news he could give was that the contract was signed and nothing could be done. I suggest to Mr. Fletcher that he puts the following further questions to the Minister and perhaps Mr. Lee Martin will help him in demanding early and definite replies:—(l) Is the' Minister aware that the. Glen Afton Company is still supplying coal to the Railway Department, despite his statement that the contract for all Waikato coal had been let to the Taupiri company ? (2) As the Minister has stated that the contract is for " seasonal" supplies only, will he give instructions that all requirements of the department from November 1 to May 1 are to be freshly tendered for and not purchased under this " seasonal" contract. Tiie affected miners- will not forget Labour's attitude in this matter. Was there ever such a Parliament? Huntly Mixer.
