MANGAWARA DRAINAGE.
RATES STRUCK BY BOARD. [by telegraph.—own correspondent.] HAMILTON. Wednesday. A decision to strike the following rates in the lower and Tauhei subdivisions was made at a meeting of the Mangawara River Board to-day:—A class land, 2^d; B class, l£d; C class, gd. This is first general land drainage rate struck by tne board under its recentlyconferred drainage powers, and will bo used in the maintenance of drains and in administration work. Authority was given for the issue of debentures for £"200, which will be expended on improvements to Law's drain. Mr. F. E. Kirk reported that he had conferred with the settlers of the central subdivision, who did not desire the board to take any further steps regarding the feleacing* oT drains in tnaarea.
