MAIN TRUNK STOPS.
TE KUITI AND TE AWAMUTU. NEW SCHEDULE PROPOSED. LONGER TRIP FOR LIMITED. Tlio schedule of the limited expresses on the Main Trunk line is to be revised by the Railway Department when the new railway station at Auckland is opened and the Westfield deviation comes into use for passenger services. It is proposed to make stops at Te Kuiti and le Awamutu for the North and South expresses.
Representations have previously been made to the department for stops at these places. It is stated that Te Awamutu will benefit, particularly in that residents will bo able to spend a full day in Auckland, leaving at about 6.30 o'clock iri the morning and returning at night. With only the ordinary express stopping, it has been necessary to board the train at 3.30 a.m.
Another amendment proposed to the time-table is a stop at Faekakariki by the South-bound limited express for refreshments at about 8.30 a.m. It is considered that the time of arrival of the express at Palmerston North, 6.42 a.m., is too early for breakfast. The train-running department is at present giving attention to the necessary alterations which the proposals would involve. It is likely that the limited express will leave Auckland nightly at seven o'clock, 30 minutes earlier than the present time, and will arrive each morning at 9.45 o'clock, 11 minutes later than at present.
