MASCOT OF RICH VISITOR.
A visitor to London, Mr. William Rae« burn, of Medicine Hat, Canada, was a sad man in London u. few weeks ago. Although carrying nearly £2OO in his pocket, ho was unable to pay for a meal without parting with a valuable souvenir.
Mr. Raeburn arrived with Mrs. Raeburu from the Continent on a visit to his native land after an absence of 30 years. They Went for a meal to a restaurant in the Strand, and were dismayed when the Canadian tnotiey they tendered was refused.
With reluctance Mr. Raeburn produced an English sovereign from the depths of tin old purse. It was carefully wrapped up in paper. " That's the first time that sovereign has seen the light of day for 30 years." he said sonowfully. " Aye," ha added " my father said I would not want while I, had it. I was thinking last night I was going to show it to him again m, Edinburgh." The cashier, however, agreed to keep the sovereign until Mr. Raeburn returns u> London, when he can claim it.
