DIVIDEND OF 25 PER CENT,

REDUCTION IN PROFITS.

The 19th annual report of the directors of Pukcmiro Collieries, Ltd., for the year ended August 31, 1930, states that making allowance for depreciation, interim dividend (£10,000) and provision for taxation, tho balance available for distribution is £67,730. The directors recommend payment of a dividend of 3s a share, making 25 per cent, for tho year. This will absorb £15,000. and leave £52,730 to be carried forward.

During the year tho company invested £25.000 in Waikato Carbonisation, Ltd., without having to encroach on reserves. The retiring directors, Messrs. J. Catchpole and E. S. Wight, again offer their services.

The amounts of net profits shown for each year are the balances after provision for taxation and depreciation, tho respective amounts having been, under tiio former heading £10,600, £II,OOO and £BOOO, while the allowances for depreciation have been £2329, £2215 and £1555. Tho gross earnings were £51,025. a reduction of £18,968 on tho amount for tho previous year. They include £4354 in rent, a decrease of £B6, and £2307 in interest, which is unchanged. The gross profit on the trading account was £44,361. against £63,006 in the previous year. Administration expenses were lower by £469 at £9057, and other charges were £lB higher at £8905. The balance transferred to the appropriation account was £33,063, as against £51,580 in the previous year.

The only liability shown in the balancesheet is (he year's reserve for taxation. Assets amount to £175,750, a decrease of £13.672. The principal alterations are decreases of £30.202 in credit balance with bankers, now £7044, and of £8325 in sundry debtors, now £11,341. The cash reduction is explained by the purchase of shares in the carbonisation company, shown at £25,000. Plant and Inr.fdings and machinery stand at £37,025, a reduction of £175: Anzac Avenue building unchanged at £34.500, and war loan stock again at £50,267.

MARKET REPORTS.

FRUIT AND PRODUCE TRICES.

There were no outstanding changes in the values for fruit at the Auckland City Markets yesterday, A very poor demand existed for apples. Good quality dessert pears brought high prices. Tree tomatoes, lemons and poorman oranges were dull of sale. Choice ripe bananas realised the increased rate of 31s a small case. The field produce market was again heavily supplied with cabbage, lettuce and celery. There were also good stocks of new "potatoes and most other vegetables in season. Owing to the recent cold weather cauliflower were in short supply and realised the high price of 4s to 12s a sack.

Short supplies of poultry met with a keen demand, the prices remaining about level with those realised at the previous sale. The values for eggs wore also unchanged. Adequate supplies sold readily. Farmers' butter continued to realise lid to Is 3d a pound. Following are yesterday's prices:—
