HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST.
The following weather forecast for 48 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied by Mr. 11. M. Vincent last evening:— Conditions aro still very disturbed over most of the Tasman Sea, barometric pressure being low over a wide area. Expect cloudy and unsettled weather, with heavy showers in most districts, particularly in western areas. Hail and thunder probabio in places near the west coast, and snow on the southern highlands. Westorly to south-westerly winds, strong and squally, veering to north. Rough seas on most Now Zealand coasts. Local outlook: Squally, with heavy showers, but fine intervals will intervene. Cold temperatures. Barometer, midnight, rising .. 29.851n. .Midnight, Thursday .. .. 29.701n. Temperatures in shade yesterday (to midnight)— Maximum, 62d«g.; minimum, 43deg.
GOVERNMENT ' REPORT,
The Llovernment meteorologist, reported last evening as follows:—A moderate anticyclone is moving on to the Dominion with its centre to tho north. Pressure is again low over south-eastern Australia. Indications aro for moderate to strong but decreasing southerly winds. Seas still rather rough between Castlepoint and Akaroa, elsewhere moderate. Moderate to fresh southerly winds, later veering to northerly, in tho eastern Tasman Sea. Seas moderate to rather rough in tho Tasman Sea. The weather will bo changeable and showery at first in eastern districts and north of Auckland, but improving. elsewhero fair to fine. Temperatures cold.
