DONCASTER ST. LEGER. VICTORY FOR SINGAPORE. LORD GLANELY'S GOOD SEASON. LONDON, Sept. 10. The principal event at the Doncaster meeting to-day resulted:— ST. LEGER STAKES, Of f 100 each; £SO forfeit if declared by Tuesday of the week before running. i'2s if struck out by the last Tuesday in March, 101)0. and £5 if declared by the first Tuesday in July, 19'.'!); with .£•1000 added. For three-year-olds, colts 0.0. fillies 8.11. One mile, C furlongs, 132 yards. SINGAPORE, Lord Glancly's b c, by Gainsborough—Tetrabbazia, 0.0 .. 1 PARENTHESIS. Lord Woolavinglou'n. bc. by Son-in-Law—Bracket, 0.0 .. 2 RUSTOM PASHA, H.H. the Aga Khan's b c, by Son-in-Law —Cos, 9.0 .. 3 Thirteen started. Won by a length and a-half, with three-quarters of a length separating second and third. Last year, when Trigo won. the St. Leger was worth £13,390. and the winner's share was £11,281, including a breeder's premium of £SOO There were 32G entries and 14 starters, so that this year, with 340 entries and 13 starters, the prize-money should be about the same. The winner, Singapore, was not raced as a two-year-old He did not start in the Derby and English newspapers up to early in August contain no reference to him as a St. Leger possibility or even to his having started in any race. Ro3e of England, who won the Oaks for Lord Glanely on June G, had run but once before and it appears that the trainer, T. Hogg, adopted the same course with Singapore, of keeping him for a set race. Lord Glanely has had a most successful season and his victories, and also those of the Aga Khan, have been very popular, for no men have spent more money upon

bloodstock in England during (he last 12 years than they have. The Asa Khan won liia first Derby this year with Blenheim, while Rustom Pasha won for him the Eclipse Stakes and Le Phare the Stewards' Ctip nt Goodwood. Lord Glanely's success with Rose of England in the Oaks on June G has proved to be the forerunner of a similar run of good fortune, culminating now in Singapore's victory in the St. Leger. In 1919, Lord Glanely won 45 races, including the Derby with Grand Parade, the total value of the stakes being £30,054, but there have been many lean years in the meantime. Gainsborough, sire of Singapore, won the Derby for Lady James Douglas in 1918. Singapore's dam, Tretrabbazia, raced only once as a two-year-old and once as a three-year-old, being second each time. As a four-year-old, in 1922 she won three races, the most important being the Royal Stakes, of £2015, 11 miles, at Newbury, Leighton being second. Parenthesis, who ran becond to Singapore, won the Princo of Wales' Stakes, one mile five furlongs, at Ascot, in June and at that time was credited with having made great improvement since running second in the Chester Vase in the previous month. His sire, Son-in-Law, won the Cesarewitch Stakes, 2i miles, as a four-year-old in 1915, and his dam, Bracket, won the same race a3 a three-year-old in 1920. ASIIBURTON COUNTY CLUB.
