THE USE OF PAIN.

Pains of all kinds are protests. They are the cry from somo part of the body which is suffering and wants relief, writes a well-known authority. Therefore, they are a kind of protection to us, for if there were no pain we might have things happening to parts of our body which are very bad for them, but we would not be aware of it, and so the damage might go on and become dangerous to our lives. Pains call our attention at once to the fact that there is something wrong, and then we can take steps to put it right. So the next time that you have a stomach ache you must feel thankful for it, for the pain has started in order to warn you not to eat too much another time. And when you get a headache, if you do not know what has caused it, you had better tell your mother. Sometimes headaches come because your eyes are not working propeily and need spectacles, but there are many other reasons, too.
