YACHT TAKEN OVER ALPS.
WEALTHY DUTCHMAN'S FANCY.
M. Van Vroegt, a wealthy Dutch yachtsman, has taken his yacht over the Alps mountains.
Recently when preparing to go to his summer home at Montreux, on Lake Geneva, Van Vroegt expressed a desire to have his yacht sent there. Everyone said it could not be done. But Van Vroegt is accustomed to having his wishes transformed into realities, with money as tho magic wand. With his family and friends, Van Vroegt set out from Rotterdam and followed the Rhine to Basle. There he was told the Swiss rivers and lakes were not deep enough to accommodate the yacht. Van Vrogt became angry. Finally, an arrangement was made with the Swiss railway company to transport the craft across the Alps. The yacht had to be dismantled because it was too large to pass through the tunnels, and was moved at night when the traffic was light. After eleven days the trip was over, the yacht was in the water and Van .Vroegt had paid about £IOOO expenses.
