MILITARY FUNERAL.
LIEUTENANT J. SIUITOE.
Tlio military funeral of tlio lato Lieulen' 1 ant J. Sillitoe, M.C., M.M., t°° k P lac " at tlio soldiers' cemetery, Vi* aikumete, on Saturday afternoon. A parade of tlio Legion of Frontiersmen was held under Captain R. Gordon, while members of tho Ponsonby Lodge of Druids were prcscpt. Tho late Lieutenant Sillitoe had been ft member of both organisations. The cortege left Bollard Avenue, Avondale, tho coffin being carried for a portion of the distance on a gun-carriage. I °u members of the Legion acted as pa bearers. The Rev. H. K. Yickery o c ated at tho graveside, while the lirui - service was read by tho A^ h " D f 1 ' U -' ; Three voilevs were fired by tho Jirini, squad and the Last Tost and the Eeveilla were sounded. The ceremony was concluded by the members of the Legion Frontiersmen saluting the £ ravo as ■ marched past in siugle fi<e. A f? number of wreaths was placed upon the 81 Tho lato Lieutenant Sillitoe. who^" 3 38 years of age, served in the Great Wa . in which he gained the C and tho Military Medal He later con tinued his services in the New Zealand Territorial, Forces, being a lieuietia) 3 the Wellington Regiment.
