FORTY YEARS' SERVICE.
RAILWAYMAN FAREWELLED, A farewell smoke concert to Mr. J. D. Koane, formerly coaching foreman at the Auckland railway station, who has retired on superannuation after 40 years' service, was tendered by his associates on Saturday evening. The new coaching foreman, Mr. A. J. Lowe, presided over a largo attendance. Mr. E. Casey, divisional superintendent for the North Island, was present. On behalf of the gathering Mr. Casey presented a wallet of notes to Mr. Keane, with a silver teapot for Mrs. Keane.. Toasts were honoured, while a musical programme was provided.,
