WHEN YOU VISIT.
Both in mansion and cottage there are times when the kindest way to help a busy hostess is to efface yourself, leaving her free to pursue her various tasks or engagements undisturbed for a time, while confident from your own manners that you will be amusing yourself quite happily and not feeling in the least neglected. The guest who persistently shadows her hostess is apt to be a nuisance. On the other hand, don't b& too independent or try to take the plans for your visit into your own hands, emphasising what form of entertainment you prefer or the places you would like to visit, though if asked to make a decision do so promptly. To be apathetic in tlie matter rather suggests that you do not much care about -anything that is proposed, so one would be as good—or as bad—as another.
