DAMAGES FOR INJURY.
JURY AWARDS SUM OF £IOOO. SEQUEL TO A COLLISION. [nY TELEGRAM. —FRESS ASSOCIATION.] NEW PLYMOUTH. Friday. The full amount claimed, £IOOO general damages, and £59 19s 6d special damages, was to-day awarded by a jury to George Hunter Smart, plumber, of Wellington, in his action in the Supreme Court against Devina Elsie Aitken, owner, and John Aitken, driver, of a motor-lorry involved in a collision with plaintffs car.
The accident occurred on December 22 and as a result Smart lost an eye. Counsel for defendants intimated that he would consider moving for a new trial on tho grounds that tho damages awarded were excessive.
