TRAGEDY AT COWES.

YACHT STEWARD DROWNED. KING WITNESSES ACCIDENT. 1 1 ' LONDON. August C. A tragedy occurred in a yacht race at Cowcs, in which the King's yacht Britannia was competing. The King witnessed the accident, which occurred when the 21-n(W?tro yachts were rounding a buoy, and while the 12-metre craft were manoeuvring for positions at the starting line, awaiting the gun. Luhvorth crashed into Lucilla, and they became locked together, enabling six- of Lucilla's crow to climber on to Luhvorth, after which the smaller Lucilia broke away and sank like a stone. Lucilla's steward had been knocked unconscious by a blow oil the head. He fell overboard, and was drowned. Lulworth abandoned the race, but the remainder went on. Britannia and many other boats, including the Royal yacht's pinnace, immediately put off to assist the Lucilla's crew. The ensign on the Royal yacht was flown at half-mast as a mark of sympathy.
