DEMAND FOR CURRENT.

EXTENSIONS IN WAIKATO. [BY fELEGBATH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] HAMILTON, Wednesday. 'An increasing demand for power is being experienced by the Central Power Board. Besides making arrangements to supply several collieries afc Huntly with power, the board has extended low tension lines to' provide for additional loads at Ngahinepouri,' Pukekapia, Gordonton, Ngaruawahia and Tauwhare. Two transformers have been changed at Puketaha and Matangi to meet the increased demand. During the last month 112 new poles have been erected. Tenders have been called for consumers' plants in the Matahuru-Waiterimu area, where an 11.000-volt extension line has been erected. Consumers will be supplied with power as soon as the connections are made.

Negotiations are proceeding ' for the raising of a Joan of £22,000 for reticulating the, area between Hamilton and Raglan, which has been merged in tho board's district.
