BRIDGE AT ONGAROTO.

NEW STEEL STRUCTURE. TIMBER COMPANY'S LINE. After serving for the past 25 years to carry all tho timber cut by tho Taupo Totara Timber Company's mill at Molcai tho old wooden railway bridge for the company's line across the Waikaio River at Ongaroto is to be replaced by a new steel bridge on concrete foundations. The old bridge has-a single span of 213 ft. The new structure, which has been designed by Messrs. Jones and Adams, of Auckland, will be 250 ft. in length between abutments. There will bo two river spans and two shore spans, and it has been designed to carry a 40-ton locomotive and a train load of 150 tons. It will be built 35ft. downstream from the existing bridge and during its construction various improvements will bo carried out to the railway station by the company. It is expected that tho new bridge will be open to traffic within 12 months.
