MANUREWA FUNCTION.

The Manurewa Town Hall presented a gay appearance recently, when the ladies' guild of the Presbyterian Church held a "bring-and-buy" gala afternoon. The hall was decorated with spring flowers and greenery and the various stalls, framed in green trellis, were well stocked with goods, which looked most attractive. In the absence of the Rev. T. H- Roseveare, Mrs. Roseveare declared the fair open. She ■was presented with a bouquet by little Heather Carroll, and Mrs. McCallum, on behalf of the guild members, presented the president, Mrs. Carroll, with one also, as a token of the esteem in which they held her for her untiring work among them. The stallholders did excellent business in all departments, and afternoon tea was served on the decorated stage. Later in the afternoon the children arrived and thronged the' "Gipsy tent," which had been provided as a special attraction for them. In the evening a concert was given before a large audience. Those contributingto the programme were:—Mr. Neville Walker, Miss Gilbertson, Miss Coppins (Brookby), Mr. Warbrick (Milford), Miss Clotworthy, Mr. Ken. Thomson, Mr. Noel Blythe. Mr. Wall, Miss Doreen Saunders (Auckland), Mr. Tait, Mrs. Muir, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Davis (Brookby). Miss Marshall (Howick), Mr. and Mrs. Parkes.
