COUNTY CLERK RESIGNS.

MR. THOMAS INSOLL, ■ • LONG SERVICE IN WAIKATO* [by telegraph.—own correspondent,] HAMILTON, Tuesday. The resignation of Mr. Thomas Bake? Insoll, who has been clerk of the Waikato County Council for the past 27 years, was tendered at a meeting of the council to-day. There have been only two clerks to the council since its inception in 1877, Captain James McPherson, * Maori war veteran, and Mr. Insoll. Reference to Mr. Insoll's long and faithful service was made to-day by the chairman, Mr. T. Hinton,; who wished: Mr* Insoll many years in which to enjoy his retirement. Mr. Insoll was granted sis; months leavo on full salary. His resignation will not take effect until the end of April, but applications to fill the vacancy will be called immediately.
