FANCY-DRESS DANCE.

A very enjoyable evening took place in the Mangero East Hall on Thursday, when combined Anglican and Presbyterian churches held their annual fancy dress ball. A large number of parents and friends were present and the prizes were presented by the Rev. Mr. Truman. lho winners were as follows:—Humorous costumes, Billy Lundy, who represented the black budget; Ray Lovell, dignity and impudenco. Under eight years: Girls, Peggy Hudson, golden butterfly; boys, M...Nash, robin redbreast. Under 12 years: Girls, Dora. Ilagen, Egyptian lady; boys, Pat Hagon, lied Indian. Under 16: Girls, Edith Marriner, oranges and lemons; boys, Jack Burrett, Dinty. Special prizes: Girls, Chris Masscv, who represented fluffy ruffles; Jean Knight, fairy; Hester Eustace, a bee; 0. Turnbull, tambourine girl; G- Cook, balloon girl. Boys, Bernard Pageric, sailor boy. Most original, over 8 years: Girls, Muriel Blandford, who represented correspondence; Muriel Kay, country cottage. Boys, Arthur Gregory, golliwog; Jack Rose, an old musician. The costumes were judged by Mesdames P. H. Smith. 0. R. Self, M. Kirkbrido and L. Jones. Dance music was supplied by Mrs. E. Hodges and Miss Todds.
