SMOKING IN TRAMCARS.

Sir, —Pipe smoking is a much cleaner liabit than cigarette burning. Cigarettes usually seem to be carried in the fingers of the so-called smokers and the ash is allowed to spill everywhere- Why not reserve a small compartment lor " cigarette burners only " and thus keep part of the trams clean? At present there appears to be no rule and a steadilyincreasing number of smokers deliberately sit ; n the so-called non-S.moking compartment. with, apparently, the full approval of the conductors. Pjssenger.
