MINING NEWS.

REPORTS OF MANAGERS. Moanataiari.— During the week the No. 1 reef south was advanced 4ft to a total of 31ft. On the other side of the breasthead (mentioned in last report) the reef has opened out to Bft in width with both walls showing. We intend next to continue the drive on the hangingwnll portion of the reef, as it is too wide to ta,ke in one face'. ' There are several stringers in the hangingwall and some nice colours of coarse gold have been seen in them. Progress has been slow on account of the size of the reef, und also two days were spent in repairs to the level and. overhauling the Dubbo.—The drive on the Dubbo reef has been advanced lift for the week. The reef is wider than the drive and the hangingwall is not exposed. The ore is not showing as much gold and sulphide as on the south side of the fault but it is still payable ore. The country on both walls is of the best class of andesite. Ihe survey of the drive was completed yesterday.
