POSTAGE OF LETTERS.
RATE INCREASED TO 2d. AUSTRALIAN BILL PASSED. (Received July 29. 11.45 p.m.) CANBERRA, July 23. The bill to increase tho letter postage to 2d has been passed. It will operate from August 1. The proposed increase in bulk postage on newspapers was rejected on the ground that it, would be prejudicial to country newspapers.
